Workshop 1 - Understanding Stress, Trauma and the Body

The first workshop will set the foundation of understanding how our bodies are wired to respond to different types and intensities of stress over time. This will help to understand how to move with and through stress responses. We will also introduce the ways relationships can be a healing resources, and how stress can affect our felt sense of safety in relationships.

Workshop 2 -  Understanding our Relationship and Attachment patterns

Very early on in our lives, we develop a felt sense of safety (or lack thereof) in relationship. This also shapes our core beliefs about ourselves and others in areas of trust, vulnerability, reliability and independence. In this workshop we will begin to explore our relationship patterns, how they have shaped over time and how they are affecting us presently.

Workshop 3 - Our Relationship Stress Style - Seeking Safety in the Body

Beginning to put together the concepts from the first 2 workshops, we will explore how we react to stress and conflict in relationships. Do you approach or avoid? Does your body want to move and shut down? We will explore the strengths of these approaches and how it may feel to move into conflict and triggers differently.

Workshop 4 -  Embodying Boundaries and Communicating Needs

Depending on our relationship experiences, it can be hard to know what we need from others at times. Alternatively, even if we know, it can be hard to ask. Combining lessons from non-violent communication and somatic (body-based) therapy, we will begin to experiment with ways to set boundaries and express needs in a way that feels safe.

Yoga Classes

The yoga classes will be mostly gentle with an emphasis on making choices. All practices are optional, as the classes are meant to be an opportunity to get curious about your internal experience, your patterns, and your stories about your body. In order to respect individual process, hands-on adjustments will not be offered. Mats and props are provided.
